Not So Deep Thoughts with Big Jim Vol. 2

I do realize that the last time I wrote up one of these silly blogs,
I said I would be doing one "every couple of weeks".
Clearly, that hasn't been the case.
What can I say?
I'm a bit of slacker.
Apparently, some things never change.

Well, with that said, let's dive in.

- I don't like the "new" Starbucks. The black logo? The new, less burnt tasting coffee? No, NO, NO!
Why is it that everything I enjoy either gets fucked with and or discontinued?

- The most underrated cartoon (for adults and stoners) of all time is "Home Movies".
Thankfully, they show the repeats on Adult Swim.

- Speaking of underrated? M. Night Shamylan's "Unbreakable". It's fucking brilliant.

- Seriously, how sick does the new Grand Theft Auto look? I await April 29th like a zitty 15 year old lad.

- One of the highlights of my trip to Colorado was an egg salad sandwich I purchased at some wee
deli in the uber-douchey town of Vail.
Honestly? It was easily one of the top sandwiches I've ever eaten.
What put it over the top?
Chopped up crispy bacon, and avocado mixed in with the eggs.
   Just phenomenal.

 - See ya the fuck later, Winter '08.
Sure, there were some highlights (Foo Fighters, Justice, a couple of random weekend nights)
but overall, it was a pretty dissapointing period.

- With the '08 NFL Draft right around the corner, I can make one iron clad guarantee.
BC's quarterback Matt Ryan will NOT be a good NFL quarterback.
I only needed to watch him play one game live to come to this conclusion.
He's a noodle armed geek, and any team that takes him will surely regret it.
(Editors note: I'm the same retard who said the following ten years ago this month:
"Ryan Leaf will be a better NFL quarterback than Peyton Manning.")

- Everyone alive should have to experience the sheer terror of a horrible, turbulence filled flight.
There's something both terrifying and kind of awesome when you feel like "Wholy shit. This is it, isn't it?"
and then the pilots get everything in control and everything's back to normal.

- Please let the news about the alleged "Shakira sex tape" be true. Please.

- I feel like I'm in the minority with this, but I think that "The Departed" kind of sucks.
However, I will say that I'll watch that sum' bitch every time it's on HBO. Why is this?

- Speaking of movies?
"Leaving Las Vegas" was on cable this past weekend, and y'know what?
I think it's the greatest love story ever told.
  No, seriously.
I can't stand movies/books/tv shows that candy coat relationships and make them seem something they're not.
We're all complex people. Some, more than others. The two main characters in this movie are obviously the
  latter.
Anyway, I loved how these two complete fuck-ups completely accepted each others terrible faults.
You don't see that in movies, let alone real life pretty much ever.
I thought I had that kind of thing once.
  Sadly, I was mistaken...

- The top five inventions of the past ten or so years? Glad you asked.
   1) Text Messaging (keep in touch without actually having to talk!)
   2) Boy shorts for the gals (You can have your thongs. THESE are the greatest things ever.)
   3) HDTV (Here's an analogy. HDTV is the Patriots. Regular Tv is the Arizona Cardinals.)
   4) Breath Strips (Won't leave the house without 'em.)
   5) Xbox 360 (Sure, they break down but it's my favorite of the "big 3".)

- Maybe it's because I'm constantly getting my ass kicked in EVERY game I play,
but I really think that online gaming has a loooooooong way to go.
  Too many assholes and cheaters.
Hey! Kind of like real life!

- Do yourself a favor if you have HBO and Comcast On Demand.
Watch "TV Junkie" in the documentary section.

- Sam Summer, already available at a packy near you.
Sometimes, it's the little things in life that make me happy.

- Bill Buckner throwing out the first pitch at Fenway?
That's about as classy as it gets, Red Sox.
  Nice work.
Y'know, even though he made my mom cry in '86 n' all.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading.
And my Christ you must be bored.

Holy shit Jim you have a lotof time on your hands. Almost as much as me for being lame and reading it all. About the crazy turbulence flights. Man, thinking you're going to die any second really sucks. Especially when they come on the loudspeaker and ask the flight attendants to sit down. Then you know you're really fucked!

    Big Jim,

Is it weird that you make me feel normal???

I have had battles with people over the brilliance that is "Unbreakable".  Nice to know I am not alone on 'Leaving Las Vegas' and egg salad too.  Holy crap!  With avocado AND bacon.  At least something about Vail sounds cool.

If I were a stripper, I would thank you for this warm-fuzzy with a lap-dance to Muses' Supermassive Black Hole.

Oh - I have also been so excited that you dusted off your Carmela-B recordings.  Used to love those.

    -Jennifer

P.S.  Yup.  Bored.  Too much time on my hands.
